Strategy according to your style and type - Pt1

THE BUSY QUEEN TYPE
The characteristics: Have no time to clean or organize on weekdays and not even time for folding clothes? Collecting all household work on weekends only.

Solutions:
1. For now, a large basket corner.
To keep things from spreading out in the room, put all you things in one basket.

2. A place for each usage
A busy queen needs space that is easy to organize with less time. Towel should be in the bathroom, television remote not near the tv but placed near where you seat.

3. Curtain for spaces
When you really have no time, drape nice curtain over that space and clean up later when you have time.

4. Move your body when watching tv
Folding clothes while watching TV is one good habit to make full use of time.

5. At least Zubora space
Zubora in Japanese means not slouchy or messy. Even if you a messy queen, at least make a very tidy space for you to relax after work or weekend.

Excerpt from Japanese magazine.
Getting Out of Disorganization

Do you have any excuse when it comes to your inability to keep your house or work-desk or even disorganize life?
* I’m busy with work and always come back home late.
* It’s tedious. I feel so overwhelmed and just want to sleep.
* Pretending or ignoring. I just loved all these stuff.

Know that 80% of disorganization is when we have to much stuff in our life. (like the title of a book about disorganization “It’s all too much”)

Lesson 1 : Start from throwing out stuffs.
1. Quickly decide which item is really REALLY useful & important and which is not.
If decission cannot be made within 5 seconds, the item shall goes to “undecided” box.

2. First are books and magazines.
According to a survey(Japan), top items that is usually in the garbage is books and magazine. Off course, books of sentimental value or your lil favourite may kept on your shelf, but limit these books. Magazines should be thrown away once finished reading it or after few months.

3. 3rd person view.
Take a picture or video of your space and feel the magic of pictures showing you how disorganize you really are. This should be a big motivation to start cleaning up.

4. Clear up the floor one corner at a time.
Most people who are disorganize feel they have to clean the whole area and delay the process of cleaning up. You don’t have to. Start by making your floor visible first, one corner a time.

5. Never add any other items to space created from throwing items.
It is like that you will feel wanting to buy some items to add to new space you’ve just created. Avoid impulse buying at all cost. It will just added more stuff to be thrown away.

So what if you feel guilty about throwing stuff?
You can sell it at net auction or second hand shop or even friends and donate to library or any organization that need a helping hand.

People who usually manage time skilfully are mostly morning person. Here’s some habit that they have.

Rituals Before Sleep

1. No dinner 3 hours before sleep. 2 hours before sleep, slight exercise or warm bath. This will effect your sleep tremendously. After the body temperature rise slightly due to exercise or warm bath, the body cools down making you feel sleepy.

2. 1 hour before sleep dim off the lights
Artificial bright lights from computer and tv or even living room light can make you stay awake longer than natural sleeping pattern supposed to be.

3. Never check email or do heavy thinking before sleep or even speak with people.

4. Prepare some goodies/something to look forward when waking up in the morning such as your favourite apple juice or strawberry jam with cheese and bread.

Rituals After Waking Up

5. Always wake at same time. If you sleep well at night, you will have body rhythm, thus automatically wake up or feel sleepy at the same time. If you don’t have enough sleep, you can extra sleep in weekends. But not too long.

6. Exposed your self to natural light. The body clocks works 25 hours per day. To reset this body clock, natural morning light is very important, so when you wake up, first thing to do is open all your curtains. If it is possible walk outside.

7. Make decission to do what you want to do the whole day. Morning is the best to do it.

8. Activate you 5 senses. Exposed yourself to morning sunshine, eat delicious breakfast, smell fresh air, listen to good music or nature sound. Hot shower is also good for the senses.

Segmented Sleep: It’s actually normal

by Ruth Hagg (www.ManageLiving.com)

So there you lay, awake, after only three or four hours of sleep. You worry, you toss and turn, finally you go back to sleep, but you know something is wrong with you. Is it?

Although some people are never really bothered by irregular sleep patterns, others worry that, if they wake up during the night, they will not get enough sleep and will not be able to function well the next day. Some blame the barking dog, others blame a partner’s snoring as the reason for their wakefulness.

How people used to sleep

Sleep patterns of yore are not really a part of recorded scientific information. No one records what seems obvious. Information about these patterns has to be gleaned from literature. Much of that information was collected in the book “At Day’s Close, Night in Times Past,” by A. Roger Ekrich.

Ekrich suggests that, in pre-industrial times, people went to bed when it was dark outside. During the winter, this would be quite early in the evening. People would fall asleep and stay asleep for 3-5 hours, which was referred to as the “first sleep.” Then they would wake up, and would either lay in bed and think, or would get up and talk quietly with others in the household.

This was followed by the “second sleep,” which lasted another three to five hours. A medical book of the time recommended that one should “lie on their right side during the first sleep and after the first sleep turned on the left side.”

Thomas Jefferson planned his time well, and would read philosophy before going to bed “whereon to ruminate in the intervals of sleep.” In other words, he planned to think about what he had read, during the interval between “first sleep” and “second sleep.”

Sleep after the Industrial Revolution

Beginning in the mid-1700s, people began to stay up later and enjoy the night-time. They were inspired by stars and comets, instead of fearing them. They decreased their belief in magic and superstition. This interest in the night was partially brought about by safer night lighting. Candles, used previously, tended to burn houses down. Oil lamps, and later, gas lights, decreased this problem.

Interestingly, the nocturnal life provided a venue for increased crime, requiring more street lighting, and the creation of police forces. It also caused a change in people’s behavior, because they could be seen by others both on the street and in their houses. Public urination at night became truly public.

Along with staying up later and going to bed later, people slept fewer hours. Thus with the Industrial Revolution, people forgot about first and second sleep, and began to believe that they should sleep continuously throughout the night.

Have our sleep patterns really changed?

While many would like to believe that everyone now sleeps through the night, we would venture the opinion that most people, in fact, sleep in two segments.

Sometimes, if we get to bed too late, we only have “first sleep,” lasting three to five hours, before the alarm goes off. Often, however, we wake up after three to five hours, are awake for a time, and then sleep again. We might call this “segmented sleep.”

Current thought about sleep labels such segmented sleep “a problem.”Advertising suggests that we should not awaken during the night, and if we do, we must worry about it.

This is very similar to a very successful historic advertising campaign started by Listerine, that created the “disease of chronic halitosis”(to be solved by purchasing their mouthwash).

Let’s accept segmented sleep

If we accept segmented sleep as natural, we will sleep better, and we will be able to use the time that we are awake to read a book or think, and then happily fall asleep for a few more hours, just like people did before 1700.

Let’s take the advice of Montaigne, a French philosopher living before 1600, who said “Follow the order of nature, for God’s sake! Follow it! It will lead who follows; and those who will not, it will drag along anyway.”

Make Yourself Beautiful on a Budget. (article from WebMD)

Mix up these recipes for homemade scrubs, masks, and cleansers, and you’ll look like a million bucks without spending a lot of cash.

Throughout history, women have tried some bizarre DIY beauty treatments: Geishas applied nightingale droppings; English nobility used mercury and puppy urine; Cleopatra reportedly soaked in sour donkey milk.

Today, we still want to keep our complexions radiant, smooth, and firm. Fortunately, there’s no need to slap disgusting — or potentially deadly — ingredients onto our skin. You just need to make a trip to your local grocery store to whip up some of the most beneficial and budget-friendly facials you can find.

Here’s how some of the pros cook up skin care at home:

Let a Breakfast Staple Double as an Exfoliating Cleanser

For a simple DIY scrub, mix a teaspoon of white sugar, corn meal, baking soda, or cooled coffee grounds into your daily cleanser.

A packet of instant maple brown sugar oatmeal is one of the beauty secrets Cristina Bartolucci, founder of DuWop Cosmetics and celebrity makeup artist, uses to keep her skin soft. She combines a handful of the oatmeal with a few pumps of cleanser in her palm and packs it on her skin. In about 10 minutes, Bartolucci gently scrubs it off. The oats fight irritation while the brown sugar exfoliates. Plus, you can use the leftovers for breakfast!

Look to Your Spice Rack for an Irritation-Fighting Facial

New York City restaurateur Donatella Arpaia squeezes fresh apricots onto sunburned skin to relieve itching and burning. Another way to calm irritated skin: Soak a washcloth in cooled whole milk and apply it to your face.

Expert facialist and founder of Lather skin care, Emile Hoyt says turmeric is one of the best anti-inflammatory ingredients around. Mix a half teaspoon of the spice with 6 ounces of plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, and half a cup of oat flour and spread it on clean skin. Hoyt says that dry, irritated complexions will feel moisturized and refreshed after 15 minutes of this treatment.

Brew Up an Oil-Erasing Mask

Oily or acne-prone skin can benefit from brewer’s yeast. Whisk two egg whites with 2 teaspoons of the yeast and apply with a paint brush or large makeup brush. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse.

Rather than pay for an expensive mud mask, a bottle of Milk of Magnesia can dry up oil just as well. Paula Begoun, author of The Complete Beauty Bible, advises blotting unflavored Milk of Magnesia on your skin and letting it dry. Rinse it away with a washcloth in about 15 minutes for a shine-free fix.

Take advantage of buttermilk’s astringent qualities and dip a cotton ball in it, dab on your skin, let it dry for a few minutes, and rinse away with a gentle cleanser to send excess oil down the drain.

Try Some All-Natural Anti-aging Agents

Nutritionist Keri Glassman, author of The Snack Factor Diet, suggests mashing a banana and grating five almonds for a mask that exfoliates, smoothes, and fights aging.

Normal complexions will soak up the age-fighting, antioxidant benefits from olive oil, says dermatologist Leslie Baumann. Dab the oil onto flaky areas, or mix a teaspoon of brown sugar with a quarter cup of olive oil for a nutritious cleanser.

Ole Henriksen, founder of the Ole Henriksen Spa in Los Angeles, says you can perk up your skin with a cleanser that combines a cup of plain yogurt and 2 teaspoons of dry red tea leaves. Sponge on the mixture and use it as a cleanser. Henriksen says the yogurt helps fade uneven pigmentation and the tea leaves are gentle enough to scrub any complexion.

Insider Tip: How to Make the Most of Your Homemade Beauty Treatments

Although all the good-for-your-skin ingredients are crucial for a facial to work, the method used to apply them is just as important. “The reason you look so great after a facial is because you have increased blood circulation to your skin due to the facial massage,” says Eva Scrivo, owner of Eva Scrivo Salons in New York City.

It just takes three minutes and you can do it whenever applying a homemade beauty treatment or even just cleansing. “This is the reason aestheticians have beautiful skin,” Scrivo says. Here’s how she advises getting your complexion into shape: Whenever you apply a treatment or cleanse, apply light pressure — enough so you can feel the bones of your face — with your finger tips. Start at the jaw line and move up to the forehead using upward strokes.

I found an interesting article about eyesight. A man submitted question about improving eyesight to Islamic counselling website.

As salamu ‘alaykum dear counselor…
I am short-sighted, so I am not able to read the reading on the board. I want to improve my eye sight. Please give some Islamic tips… what to do, what tasbihat I have to read, and Hadiths regarding this.
Thanks a lot…

Here’s the answer from a scholar.

There are a number of hadiths about improving the eyesight – these all have to do with a herb called “kohl”

Ibn ‘Abbas (RA) says:“Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa salam said: ‘Use kohl made of ithmid on the eye; it brightens the eyesight, and strengthens and increases the growth of the eye lashes’. Sayyidina Ibn ’Abbas (RA) also used to say ‘Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa salam had a small container for keeping kohl, from which he applied kohl in each eye three times every night.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Kohl is also known as Ithmid or Antimony  – it is a special type of kohl which is reddish black in colour. It is obtained in the Eastern countries. Antimony is not the metal used in industry today, but the natural sulfide of antimony, stibinite. Some modern medical drugs actually contain antimony. This pure natural mineral found in nature looks a bit like a metallic coral reef. It is the base for authentic kohl. However, it is a rare mineral so the real kohl would be quite expensive. There are a number of khols on the market today that are made from other minerals or substances.

Another modern technique that may reflect a bit of the wisdom of kohl is called “Palming” and was used by Dr. William Bates, MD, who has an entire book (called The Bates Method) that speaks about natural ways to improve the eyesight. “Palming” was a cornerstone of his technique and involved laying down in a completely dark room and then covering one’s eyes with the palms so there was absolutely no light coming in at all. Kohl does somewhat of the same thing, it helps reduce stress on the eyes (which Bates says is the main cause of poor eyesight), by sheltering the eyes from bright lights, and reflections on an ongoing basis. One is supposed to do palming at least four times a day for ten minutes each time. Significant improvement is seen in the eyesight after weeks or months of following this method.

You may also recite the following du’aa for improved eyesight – read “Ya Shakooru” (one of the names of Allah) 41 times over water, and then apply this water to the eyes and drink the remaining water. If you have read Dr. Emoto’s books on water crystals you will see the scientific explanation for why this works. Another prayer you can recite is Surat ul Qaf , Ayah 22. Recite this 7 times after the fard (obligatory) of each prayer. Then recite Ya Nooru 3 times and blow into your thumbs and wipe over your eyes three times.

The wisdom in reciting “Ya Shakooru” 41 times can be seen in one of my favorite ahadith:

Abu Huraira, narrated that he beard Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There were three persons in Bani Isra’il, one suffering from leprosy, the other bald-headed and the third one blind. Allah decided to test them. So He sent an angel who came to one who was suffering from leprosy and said: Which thing do you like most? He said: “Beautiful colour, fine skin, and removal of that which makes me detestable in the eyes of people. He wiped him and his illness was no more, and he was conferred upon beautiful colour and beautiful skin. He (the angel) again said: “Which property do you like most?” He said: Camels, or he said: The cow the narrator is, however, doubtful about it, but (out of the persons) suffering from leprosy or baldness one of them definitely said: The camel]. And the other one said: Cow. And he (one who demanded came]) was bestowed upon a she-camel, in an advanced stage of pregnancy, and while giving he said: May Allah bless you in this. Then he went to the bald-headed person and said: “Which thing do you like most?” He said: “Beautiful hair, and that (this baldness) may be removed from me because people hate me. Prophet Muhammed wiped the man’s body, and his illness was removed and he was bestowed beautiful hair, and the angel said: “Which wealth do you like most?” He said: “The cow”. Then he was given a pregnant cow, and while handing it over to him he (the angel) said: “May Allah bless you with this. Then he went to the blind man and he said: “Which thing do you like most?” He said:” Allah should restore my eyesight so that I should be able to see people with the help of that”. Prophet Muhammed wiped his body, and Allah restored to him his eyesight, and he (the angel) also said: “Which wealth do you like most?” He said: “The flock of sheep”. And he was given a pregnant goat, and that gave birth to young ones, and it so happened that one valley abounded in camels and the other one in goats and the third one in sheep. He then went to the one suffering from leprosy in his (old) form and shape and he said: “I am a poor person and my provision has run short on my journey, and there is none to take me to my destination except with the help of Allah and your favour. I beg of you in His name Who gave you fine colour and fine skin, and the camel in the shape of wealth (to confer upon me) a camel which should carry me on my journey”. He said: “I have many responsibilities to discharge”. Thereupon Prophet Muhammed said: I perceive as if I recognise you. Were you not suffering from leprosy and whom people hated, and you were a destitute and Allah conferred upon you (wealth) He said: “I have inherited this property from my forefathers”. Thereupon Prophet Muhammed said: “If you are a liar may Allah change you to that very position in which you had been”. Prophet Muhammed then went to the one who was bald-headed in his (old) form, and said to him the same. And then Prophet Muhammed went to the blind man in his (old) form and shape and he said: “I am a destitute person and a wayfarer. My provision have ran short and today there is no way to reach the destination but with the help of Allah and then with your help, and I beg of you in the (name) of One Who restored your eyesight and gave you the flock of sheep to give me a sheep by which I should be able to make my provisions for the journey. He said: “I was blind and Allah restored to me my eyesight; you take whatever you like and leave whatever you like. By Allah. I shall not stand in your way today for what you take in the name of God”. Thereupon, Prophet Muhammed said: You keep with you what you have (in your possession). The fact is that you three were put to test and Allah is well pleased with you, and He is annoyed with your companions”. (Muslim  42: 7071)

This parable teaches us that we need to be thankful for what Allah has given us and that until we are, we are unlikely to enjoy additional blessings. It also teaches us to be sure to thank Allah for the blessings we have.

Setting Up Time Schedule

1. Simple To Do List

Simple is the best. Break the list at the beginning and at the end of of the day(work). Give priority using numbers.
